Uploading a CSV file allows you to perform a one-time import of multiple learners. You can also configure an ongoing sync from a CSV file; see Sync from CSV File for more information.
Note: The maximum file size for a CSV import is 5 MB.
Follow the steps below to import new learners or update existing learners utilizing a CSV file:
- Navigate to Learners > CSV Import.
- Click Download Sample CSV File to download a file containing example data. The columns defined in the CSV file need to remain in the order shown in the sample file and should not be rearranged. Additionally, all column headers should be left in the file even if no data is being entered into a given column.
- Select an option under CSV Learner Destination to determine how your imported learners will be assigned to groups:
- Group Listed in CSV: Selecting this option will add imported learners to the group defined in the uploaded CSV file. If a learner’s group value matches an existing Infosec IQ group, they will be added to the group. If a learner’s group value does not match an existing Infosec IQ group, a new Infosec IQ group will be created. Every learner will be added to the All Learners group.
- Existing Group: When this is selected you will select an existing Infosec IQ group and all imported learners will be added to it. If there are no additional groups available, the All Learners group will be selected.
- New Group: This option requires you to enter a name for a new group. Once the import is complete, the new static group will be added.
- The section labeled “Behavior for Existing Learners” determines what happens when a user in your CSV already exists in Infosec IQ as a learner.
- Update Learners: Information in the CSV will overwrite and update learner data stored in Infosec IQ. Note that email addresses cannot be updated via CSV import.
- Ignore Learners: Information in the CSV will be ignored, and existing Infosec IQ learners will not be updated.
- Click Choose File button to select your CSV file.
- Click Preview Upload to analyze your CSV file. Infosec IQ will read the file and provide a summary of the number of rows in the file, number of errors, number of learners and groups affected, and a count of new learners added.
- Click Upload Learners to process the file, or click Start Over to select another CSV.
